Get Involved.

Life might seem kinda crazy right now. Getting the hang of things will take awhile but don’t forget to live in the moment. Make the most of the time you have in high school. These days don’t last forever and before you know it, school will be over and you will regret missing out. Get involved and live, kiddos. Go to the dances, the carnival, the football games, and join the plethora of clubs here at our school! Take it from this Westlake senior.

Don’t Slack Off.

Get your work done as soon as possible; you don’t want to get behind. The ACT will be hard if you don’t prepare, so study hard. The more work you get done, the less slack you’ll have to pick up later. Senior year can either be a breeze or the toughest year of your high school career so it’s important that you try your hardest. Just because something is hard doesn’t mean you should give up on it. If graduating is important to someone, failing classes won’t help. If you want your senior year to be free periods galore and fun all around, work hard so you can party harder. 🤙

Don’t Take High School So Seriously.

High school is not the end of the world. It’s four years, then it’s over. You’ll have the rest of your life ahead of you. Don’t get caught up in the drama. High school is a rough time for everyone. Everyone makes mistakes; forgive and forget. You probably won’t get A’s on every assignment, but the last thing you want is to make it harder for yourself or anyone else. Stay away from toxic environments like gossip and drugs. Have fun, don’t sweat the small stuff, appreciate your friends, appreciate this time, and don’t get caught prioritizing the wrong things.

Fitting In is Lame.

Everyone gets concerned about fitting in with people around them. It’s easy when you’re surrounded by over 3400 students. Being weird isn’t the worst thing in the world, but being fake is. Don’t be afraid to be a super nerd about things you enjoy. Just be who you are and the people that accept you are your friends. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind. Stay true to your values and don’t let anyone change them. Be kind to your peers, don’t be fake, and don’t worry about fitting in!

These years might be tough for a lot of students, but we can make them more bearable just by doing these simple things. Get involved in the school events and enjoy them while they last; they won’t happen again. Work hard, the last thing anyone would want is to make high school harder for themselves. Relax, stay out of the drama, have fun and get away from toxic environments. Don’t try too hard to fit in. Everyone is different, embrace it. If you’re ever feeling stressed or just hate high school, try to remember to make the most out of it.
