Starting in the fall of 2017, the Saratoga Springs Arts Council began a new holiday tradition. Every year, there is a holiday decoration contest for the residents of Saratoga Springs. Submissions are open from November 1 through November 26, 2018. This means that, starting November 1, 2018 residents who are confident in their Christmas decorating skills will be able to submit a picture of their already decked out house. The submissions will be listed on a map found on the Saratoga Springs Civic Events Facebook page. Fellow citizens will also get involved by driving by homes and then voting on December 1-15 for their favorites. These votes will be counted and the winner of the Saratoga Springs Arts Council’s Holiday Home Decorating Contest, along with a cash prize ranging from $50 to $100, will be formally announced at the Holiday Orchestra Concert that is unofficially taking place December 17, 2018.

So, for those of you who were already humming Christmas tunes in September, why not convert that Christmas spirit into an awesome house decoration. When you submit your entry, which consists of a good photograph of your lit house, you now have your house listed on a map for everyone in Saratoga Springs to come and drive by.

No more spending a fortune at Thanksgiving Point this holiday season. You can drive through your own neighborhood and discover a special light show for free from people like you. But don’t just window shop! The homes that wowed you and amazed your kids could also use your vote. Don’t miss out on the community fun this holiday season!
