Miracle or Wack?

Open the door. Smell the familiar air of your home. Sit down on the couch and turn on the TV. This method of stress relief is simple, and effective. Imagine coming home after a long day at school/work– you’re tired and stressed. All you have to do is plop down on the couch and turn on your favorite show. This calms stress as quick as the snap of your fingers.

I interviewed a few students in my classes and asked them what relieves their stress the most. ⅘ people said naps or television.  For me, after getting home from a long day at school I look forward to grabbing some snacks and watching my favorite shows, “The Office”, “Friends”, or “Drake and Josh”. Those shows relieve my stress quickly and efficiently.

Stress relief can come in many shapes and forms, it doesn’t only come from watching television. Most people will relieve stress relying on coffee and chocolate. Stress is one of the worst feelings in the world, and to find relief from that is one of the best feelings in the world. But above all that, exercise is the #1 stress reliever in the world. There are many ways to exercise, you can do breathing exercises, running exercise, and weights. For students in high school or in college, these methods for stress relief are lifesavers and help your mental health.

Keep a positive attitude. Keeping a positive attitude can change a lot about your mood, and your attitude towards other people. Accept that in life, there are situations that are sometimes out of out own control. If you accept events that you can’t control instead of dwelling on it, you will be an overall happier person with a better attitude. Life happens, no one can control everything that happens to them. Life is full of surprises, just keep a positive attitude and stop dwelling on things that are out of your hands. Be assertive, not aggressive. If you follow by these simple rules everyday, I promise your days will be a lot faster and enjoyable.

Some people might say it doesn’t work. But these steps to stress relief will improve your lifestyle and help with happiness. Your attitude will improve your relationships with your friends and family. Your mind will be free of all the stress in your life. Even though it seems “too good to be true,” it’s not, and it’s simple to do. Enjoy life and stop worrying.
